Toy Design with Ann Sun

Preserving authentic imagination and wonder

The start of a festive holiday season became all the more thrilling with our Toy Design Special Camp! Our honorary guest Ann Sun has designed toys for Barbie, Ever After High, DC Superhero Girls, and even for the new Wonder Woman 1984 movie and Netflix’s new animation movie Over the Moon!

An advocate for preserving childlike creativity through her work as a Toy Designer, Ann led our TaleTree campers through a journey to add innovative features to old toys or to design completely new ones. With Ann’s guidance, some of our campers experimented with tin foil to sculpt new forms while others took old socks and turned them into stuffed mushrooms (not the cheesy kind!). By gathering materials from around the home and experimenting with various creative processes, an old stuffed pony can find new life as a unicorn! You’ll be surprised to find limitless solutions from a collection of scrap materials. The ideas are infinite with our TaleTree kids who already love to use toys for storytelling and art-making.

Stay tuned for a collection of our campers’ own toy designs and another Special Camp announcement!~

Stay tuned for more of our kids’ camp creations!
