A rocket & space scientist

“Daniel Kwon”

Star Wars influenced me so much when I was a child. I wanted to become a captain on a spacecraft :)

Lots of questions

Lots of questions

Rocket and space sciences sound like very tough subjects but our guest, Dan, explained things in such an easy way at our Special Camp. He covered a lot of questions our kids had such as “do aliens exist, how do you go to the bathroom and how do you drink water on a spaceship, etc”. It is fascinating to see kids have endless questions about space and they already have so much knowledge, too.

Too often, school textbooks bore our kids so that they completely lose their interest in whatever subject. When kids are curious and interested in something, you don’t need to do much - especially these days! They look for information on their own (there is a ton of resources on the internet) and become so knowledgeable. We see this all the time. Even the shiest kids start speaking their minds when they see something they are interested in. The trick is how do we get these kids interested and curious? There are many ways to do that and one of the methodologies Dan used at the camp was to come up with funny random questions to get the attention of the kids and then provided some structure around the stories he told. So next time, you want your child to pay more attention to math, come up with funny questions and stories around.

TaleTree will keep inviting inspirational guest speakers and tickle our kids’ curiosity buds. It’s your job to make sure to actually sign them up to be there ;)

August Special Guest

Dan Kwon is a father of an 8-year-old boy and a rocket/space scientist.

He earned his Ph.D. from MIT and has been working on super innovative projects at Lockheed Martin. Dan began to dream about becoming a rocket scientist when he watched movies such as Star Wars and Star Trek as a little kid. Needless to say, it's very important that kids are exposed to various inspiring things at a young age.

“Our mission at TaleTree is to change the way kids experience and expand their creativity”
