How Immersive Media is used in life

“Mario Kenyon”

“I was an outcast when I got into immersive media but I was Rushmore and stayed true to myself. Now I am working on some incredible projects from all over the world.”

Lots of questions

We’ve all experienced a type of immersive media. Think of a filer you use on Zoom that makes you look like you’ve grown beards. Mario focused on Augmented Reality (AR) and how that brings computer-generated content to the real world through smartphones, for example.

Textbooks might be boring on flat pieces of paper. With AR, you can actually see the things that you are learning in your textbook in 3D. Very soon, with more advanced technologies, you can even feel those things. This augmented experience will make learning so much more fun and effective. The same goes for so many other industries such as entertainment, fashion, health, arts…. It even helps us discover new things and solve the problems we couldn’t solve in the past. One kid asked how AR could be used in Fashion. Well, think about how you would look in the dress you consider buying. Without having to try it yourself, you can scan your body and then get your scanned image to try out the outfit on your phone!

Mario also showed some very interesting examples including Merge Cube, a very light cube that has patterns and AR trigger points on each side. Through this totally affordable cube and its app, you can learn about how plants grow from seeds to flowers, etc.

It was such an awesome Special Camp thanks to our beloved speaker, Mario. We will share the recorded video later and let more kids learn about Immersive Media :)
